Idiotic statements that make Malaysian politics and UMNO moronic

As the UMNO party general election is in progress, many have taken this opportunity to say some words all for the purpose of making oneself known by stealing some lime light. Sadly these attention grabbers only come up with nothing but moronic statements that further enhance their idiocy.
The hottest topic and most used propaganda in this edition of UMNO's general election was about the 'enshrined in the Constitution' Malay rights issue and the position of Islam. A Perlis delegate Jafri Othman, one of the many, called for the UMNO Supreme Council to revoke the suspension of Bukit Bendera UMNO Chief Datuk Ahmad Ismail. Jafri said that Ahmad was merely defending Malay rights and shouldn't be punished severely. Err...how does name calling other races as 'immigrant' helps defend the Malay rights??? Ahmad has already been punished lightly as no ISA action was taken against him for such serious seditious remarks.
Penang delegate Mohd Zaidi Mohd Said said Malay rights should be safeguarded at any cost and a Negri Sembilan delegate concurred with this statement saying that those who question the Malay supremacy should be put under ISA arrest. All goes to show that ISA is the Malaysian Government and UMNO Gestapo. Proves also that there is double standard in Malaysia, an UMNO incite racial tension but suspension that ensued is asked to be revoked whereas if a none Malay even questions the 'Ketuanan Melayu' they face the draconian Internal Security Act.
Mohd Zaidi also added that other races when hurting the feelings of the Malays can get away with it. He was refering to the 'UMNO celaka' from Karpal Singh and 'UMNO gila kuasa' statements by Lim Kit Siang. Of course they got away with it la you moron. Karpal and Lim clearly meant UMNO as in the political party and not the Malay race. The audacity Mohd Zaidi must have to assume that UMNO is the Malay race. The assumption of such a thought and the inability for him to differentiate between the two is an embarrassment not only to him but his teachers as obviously he was not taught well.
Kelantan delegate Mohd Afendi Yusof then condemned those who insulted and challenged the royal monarchy. He even said that others do not understand that Islam teaches Malays to respect royalty. Ironically UMNO was the very first to challenge the royal monarchy when they pushed the bill through Parliament to revoke the Sultan's immunity. This fellow is a super duper idiot who enjoys slapping himself in the face and has just embarrass Islam with his pea brained statement.
One thing that is even clearer in UMNO than the corruption and money politics in the party is idiocy beyond stupidity. To get ahead in the party you just got to talk lots of loud bullshit trash. Knowing or understanding the facts and meaning is not even secondary, it's not needed at all. Oh ya, ambushing a wheelchair bound senior citizen with 20 to 30 supporters will etch your name in the party's folklore legend. Add in abusive and threatening words together with some pushing will gain you cult hero status. To achieve the state of nirvana and enlightenment in UMNO, one must go through the gruelling ritual of waving and 'keris' kissing with the shout of 'running blood of immigrants through it'. Idiots, nothing but childish morons. I do wonder still how the hell do we let these bunch of goons lead our country.
UMNO idiots even claim that DAP is very slick and use Malays for their own agenda and is embarrassed to see Malays falling for their tricks. Actually DAP is not very slick but only needs to employ child's play tactics as UMNO is just too dumb to counter it. The embarrassment is not other Malays seeing the light and join other political parties to fight against UMNO but that UMNO is using their very own Malay race to gain political mileage and to extravagantly feed their own stomachs.
Most ironic of all is in the midst of all this moronic statements being issued, the UMNO leaders have been chiding the opposition about not passing a new amended Human Rights Bill through Parliament. Here they are trash talking the Opposition but contradictingly they are defending the 'Malay Supremacy'. So what equal human rights is there in the 'Ketuanan Melayu'???
Credit should be given to UMNO though for since the day of its inception, they have always been consistent. Consistently lying, cheating, conniving, scheming, oppressing and marginalising for their own benefits. Looking at the lineup set to lead UMNO after their election, their consistency is set to continue. Sadly it is not good news for the 'Rakyat' as we are the ones that have to pay and suffer the brunt of their stupidity.

No entry into Sarawak

After spending much of our state's funds in promoting tourism to Sarawak and what does the government do, they deny people entry into the state.

Pakatan Keadilan Rakyat or PKR Member of Parliament for Padang Serai N. Gobalakrishnan was denied entry into Sarawak by immigration officers under orders from the government at the Kuching International Airport.

Gobalakrishnan quoted :

"The moment I reached the airport, immigration officers told me that I am not allowed to enter due to instructions from the state government".

"The immigration officer gave me a notice which reads ‘Tuan bukan rakyat Sarawak, tidak berhak untuk masuk ke Sarawak tanpa permit atau pas Akta Imigresen 1959-1963′ (You are not a citizen of Sarawak and are not eligible to enter Sarawak without a permit or immigration pass)."

The PKR Member of Parliament left on the next available flight out of Kuching.

What an embarrassing and conceited move by our government to stop the opposition machinery into entering the state. Deplorable is what it is. That's how despicable the UMNO-BN Government are. Recent news about DAP's new rural branches getting tremendous support have definately sent shivers through the Government. As seen recently of SUPP's statement that they never neglected the Iban communities and now deny access of an opposition party leader into the state. Clearly an act of cowardness from UMNO, BN and Taib's administration.

Joke of the day.....

After the Iban communities in droves joined the opposition party of DAP in Sibu because of dissatisfaction towards the BN government of years and neglect and broken promises, SUPP today came out saying that they did not and never ignored the hardships of these communities.

Yeah, you may not be the ones directly that broke the promises made to them but choosing to do nothing at helping them is just as bad. What a pack of hypocritical liars!!!

Sleepless in Sarawak

It has been rumoured that probably in another 12 to 18 months time, Sarawakians will go to the polls for their state elections. With recent activities by the opposition parties, those 12 to 18 months will seem just a little too fast for the BN coalition and for once the strangle hold of Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud is under real threat. What it will be for sure is 12 to 18 months of sleepless nights for the Chief Minister and co.

The cause of this insomnia causing revelation is that the Sibu Jaya and Sungai Merah branches both in Sibu has been officially launched. Members of both these new branches are predominantly Iban and it is a known fact that over the years the Ibans of Sarawak were never happy with the BN Government or its Chief Minister.

The 2 new branches of DAP held their first AGM to elect its pioneer batch of office bearers at the Sibu DAP office yesterday morning. The Sibu branch head office was said to be filled to the brim that every chair was occupied and even so members still kept pouring in, willingly standing throughout the whole meeting. More of these rural DAP branches will be set up in the coming months and for sure alarm bells have been ringing in the BN camp.

Several Iban leaders were invited to speak at the meeting and all of their speeches had the same tune in it that how the BN Government has continuingly neglecting the Iban communities despite of promising them heaven and earth. They even expose the fact that BN leaders have resorted to threats and intimidation, dissuading them to join or vote for the opposition. The NCR land issue was also mention by these Iban leaders as we know that over the years they have been robbed slowly but surely by the tyrant pirate Chief Minister and his faithful crooked cronies.

It was always a known fact that in order for the opposition in Sarawak to break the BN dominance would be to have these Iban communities wake up from the bondage of their very own Iban BN leaders. Once they have the courage and the political maturity to do so then a change of state and maybe even federal government is in the cards. With the show of support as seen at the DAP branch opening a political wind of change is blowing in Sarawak. As the DAP now plans to open more and more such rural branches, this wind of change might turn into a full blown typhoon and blow BN away. It has been a long time coming.

Taib and his cronies swan song days of plundering the state's resources maybe numbered. After nearly 3 decades at the helm he has already amassed enough pension fund not only for him but probably enough for 3 or 4 of his generations to come. He has no one to blame as years of marginalising and oppressing the Ibans has finally caught up with him. All his Iban cronies must also be shaking in their boots as they know they have awoken a sleeping giant and there is no turning back now. They now must scurry for whatever they can scavenge for in a year or a year and a half they can jolly well kiss their ministerial posts good bye as they face the wrath of the monster of their own creation.

The House of Parliament - An overly priced rumpus room for ministers to act like 9 year olds...

Parliament and Malaysian politics officially welcome the return of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim after an absence of 10 years on the 27th of August 2008.

Former opposition leader, Lim Kit Siang (DAP - Ipoh Timur), was overjoyed by the occassion of the return of their charismatic leader that during question time in the Parliament sitting, he used that opportunity to give his welcome speech instead...

"With the success of the second political tsunami in Permatang Pauh and the coming of the 'Titanic' next time..." he said, while his voice was drowned out by Barisan Nasional backbenchers who shouted at him not to waste time and told him to ask the relevant question.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz rudely stood up and interrupted Lim, much to the displeasure of the DAP veteran.

"I admit there is such a thing as tsunamis and titanics in politics, and that is why your seat has been blown to that side." said Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz refering to the first seat of the opposition bench which is designated as the Opposition Leader's seat.

Lim is now sitting four places away from his original seat, the Opposition Leader's seat, which he was occupying before the March 8 general election.

Damn good punt there Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz.....HAHAHA!!!

Anwar Ibrahim’s radioactive cult of personality...

After Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was sworn in this morning as MP for Permatang Pauh and immediately assumed the position of Parliament Opposition Leader, a depressing scenario may have confronted the Barisan Nasional MPs, Government and backbenchers alike, especially the ones with immense loathing molded on their faces the moment Anwar comfortably eased himself into the custodial seat reserved for an elected representative like him: how do you contain a radioactive moving target?

If there was anything that the BN learnt in the 10 years they tried to handle, check, curb, neutralise and combat Anwar is that absolutely nothing – no penal code and no media attacks – can contain him. Detain him and jail him, yes but containing his ideas, his influence, his reach and his seductive charisma are beyond the failed conventional containment tactics (general election, by-election, TV debate, mass media et al). Even unconventional tactics sputtered, if you add in the sordid mix a convicted power abuse charge, a convicted sodomy charge and a pending but tenuous sodomy charge.

Anwar engages attacks of all persuasions like a “nuclear demon”, absorbing the battering with sly counter-tactics of his own while growing stronger by each defensive maneuvre. The way he has slickly and aggressively operated, the BN could have dropped a political nuclear bomb with enough yield to destroy or at least debilitate most powerful overlords (think Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah) and yet Anwar scraped through, emerging like the Terminator emerges from a lethal crossfire, bruised, bloodied and savaged perhaps but intact, never annihilated and more determined.

If anything, the attacks against him and the perceived setbacks that threatened to scuttle his homecoming today served as “nuclear fuel” that boosted his “irradiating radioactiveness”. Anwar’s millions of supplicants will ensure that he transcends beyond mere politics – he has constructed for himself a newfangled cult of personality even the mullahs of Pas would kill to emulate.

Following the BN’s general election debacle and the Permatang Pauh by-election that had odds stacked against them, there appears to be little the coalition could envisioned to accost Anwar’s warring juggernaut towards that Malaysian political nirvana – the Prime Minister’s Office in Putrajaya. Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is the closest foe that could have taken on Anwar on a hand-to-hand political combat but the ex-PM is a fading spirit even if his acidic blog musters massive devoted fans and antagonising critiques are spot on.

So, the dynamics inside the House’s political divide have verily transformed, even if the BN-Pakatan Rakyat balance of power still stands at 140–82. What does Anwar bring to shift the dynamics? For starters, that Sept 16 Malaysia Day date, predestined (hyped beyond belief by Anwar’s spinmeistering is more like it) as the moment the PKR supremo takes over the Federal Government, assuming that he has secured adequate BN MPs to defect to the PR and all BN’s efforts to dissuade the desertion have troublingly failed.

The Sept 16 pre-destiny also works on the tactic of “danger by proximity” – the fact that Anwar is a whisper away from these shifty Sabah MPs adds a toxic value to BN’s ability to preserve the House political equation. While in the past Anwar had to travel all the way to Kota Kinabalu or where he could hold private consultations, now he can simply invite them to his Opposition Leader’s office in Parliament for tea and muffins during breaks and work his charm offensive.

If ever Anwar’s charm offensive works, then he would certainly resuscitate the niggling vote of no-confidence against the Prime Minister after the motion presented by his wife and erstwhile Opposition Leader Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Ismail on June 23 was stopped in its tracks by the Speaker. This time though, a fresh motion of similar disruption may conjure better leverage that would seek to embarrass the BN Government and assuage their credibility before the alleged mass defection ensues.

But for now, these are all speculative drivel, political mindgames for the bored and idle, and a guessing game befitting a poker session that Anwar has nonchalantly called and raised. Is he upping the ante with a potent hand or might it be that he, like any good poker player, is "bluffing"? Nonetheless, it is a bluff that the Abdullah Administration is furiously trying to neutralise, though the bookies have likely placed favourable odds on Anwar. But does it mean that the BN simply falter and allow the defections to topple their 51-year invincibility? Hardly. There are powerful constitutional options that could be deployed although it carries a certain risk but may yet be functional for the coalition to survive Anwar’s brutal assault.

Even if we are able to dismiss all these conjecture as aggrandising junk, Anwar in the Lower House is still a feisty and frisky prospect. Let’s not ignore his fundamental House responsibility – represent his constituency, debate new laws and keep the Government honest with pointed questions and even pointed remarks on any credulous issue of the day.

In his triumphant homecoming just now after serving a 10-year sentence in the desolation of bewildering mass of a political outcast, Anwar Ibrahim was sworn-in as the MP for Permatang Pauh before the Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia at exactly 10.05am to the cheering crescendos of his Opposition colleagues and family, and a ghostly representation of the Government, represented by Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz, Datuk Zaid Ibrahim and Datuk Mustapa Mohamed and a half-full complement of backbenchers. The oath taking didn’t make it on live TV, the excuse being that coverage was only for the question and answer session. Anwar has gotten use to that.

Ten minutes later outside the House, with the media horde clambering for position to record his initial utterances of erudition and enlightenment, it could be adduced that the burden of pariahdom has levitated from Anwar and in its place, a pervasive sense of vindication. "I was touched and vindicated coming back to Parliament after 10 years. After all that I had gone through in that time, now it feels good to be back. It is my right,” he said so with feeling.

Then, around noon, he blasted away the calibre of showmanship and articulation that he was accustomed to in dealing with plebeians in the BN backbenchers’ ranks, sounding off briefly in the debate on the disputatious DNA Identification Bill. Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud (PAS-Kota Raja) was arguing passionately on why the DNA Identification Bill should be gutted on the account that the Bar Council had grave reservations over the proposed law when BN perennial slugger, Datuk Tajuddin Abdul Rahman (BN-Pasir Salak), interrupted and demanded Siti Mariah to pronounce whether the Bar Council was a credible body to cast doubts on the Bill.

Wait for it...here it comes...Anwar cooly stood up, perhaps remembering how this moment, no matter how impossible and how incredible, had played in his mind for countless of times during his definition of the persecuted decade. In his sonorous and quick tenor, he cut in: “Doesn’t Yang Berhormat agree with me that the one with no credibility is the corruption-ridden Government? This is the Government which tabled a Bill last Monday, giving no opportunity to MPs, including those of friends from the other side, to study it, and presented it with malicious intention. This is a Bill opposed by both the Bar Council and non-Governmental groups. The Opposition would support any Bill that would benefit the people. But we are against the method employed by the Government to push this Bill through without taking heed of the public's voice.”

Any longer than those breathless sentences he expertly uttered and somebody might swoon and faint in the House but Anwar would have enjoyed this little stretch of time for himself, even if he was aware that the proposed Bill was grated by the Opposition as being "politically motivated" to meet his scheduled sodomy trial. Soon after, and perhaps to impress Anwar with their oratorical proficiency, Dr Hatta Ramli (Pas-Kuala Krai), Lim Kit Siang (DAP-Ipoh Timor) and Dr Lo' Lo' Ghazali (PAS-Titiwangsa) jumped into the cacophonic circus with the defiant Tajuddin.

And what was Anwar state of mind when he observed the exchange of candour? Amused and probably feeling that he has finally come home to rule and his foes would have to come to the horrific terms that one day in the near future, he just might sit on the opposite end of the current seating structure. -Azmi Anshar (New Straits Times 29.08.2008)
